Our next membership meeting will be:

Sunday, September 20th, 2009 at Rainier School

in the Bill Leonard Room at 11:30 am.

The agenda will include:

A serious discussion of the many changes and proposed changes at Rainier School  since our last meeting in May.  Besides house closures and program curtailments, there are layoffs, and terminations. Terminations include the Chaplain’s position and all the Social Workers positions. The Adult Training Program staff  also has a large reduction. The Bonney Lake Thrift Store has been closed and the staff reassigned. This means the program designed to give Rainier residents community integration work ,

developed and implemented in response to the DOJ’s  call for more client interfacing with the community, has been stopped.  There’s a lot more . Lawsuits filed challenging service cuts. At the meeting we will share what we know.   We’ve also asked Supt Crowley to share with us his latest data on items of relevance.

The August 27th Focus Group meeting on the 250 RHC bed Reduction study  . Norm Davis, lead  partner in the consulting firm Davis Deshaies held  a focus group meeting at Rainier School on Thursday,

August 27th at 6:30 pm. This was  a  limited invited  group of  30  that included parents, guardians, siblings, the Buckley mayor, and the WFSE president. Some one came ,no one knew, who shouted some strange comments from the front row an left, shortly afterwards.  Those attending will share their  perceptions of this meeting and suggest actions we should take.         Note the Action RHC meeting notice on the next page.
